Cape Cod Family Photographer · Now Booking Summer 2027
Relaxed beach and outdoor sessions anywhere on Cape Cod, scheduled at the time of day that works for your family. Candid, natural, and full of the real moments you will actually want on the wall.
Cape Cod Family Photography
Cape Cod is one of the most beautiful places on the East Coast to photograph a family. Bright mornings on the bay, wide open tidal flats at midday, warm evenings along the dunes. Every part of the day has its own look here, and each session is planned around the light at the time that fits your family’s schedule.
My approach is simple: keep things relaxed, let the session breathe, and stay ready for the moments that happen in between. Some of the best Cape Cod family photos come from kids chasing waves, parents laughing at something that was not staged, siblings doing what siblings do. That is what I am here to catch.
Every session includes a mix of natural candid shots and classic posed family portraits. You leave with a complete gallery, not just one type of photo.
The Experience
A good Cape Cod family session should not feel like a photoshoot. No rigid posing, no one standing at attention. The session stays moving, direction is light, and the energy of the family leads the way.
That is especially true with young kids. Toddlers do not take direction. They run toward the water, they throw sand, they get distracted by a bird. That is not a problem. That is the session. Some of the best photos come from families that stopped worrying about being photo-ready and just had a good time on the beach.
You will walk away with 50 or more professionally edited photos. A mix of candid moments and posed portraits that together tell the story of your family on Cape Cod.
Where We Shoot
Sessions are available from Bourne to Provincetown, at beaches, harbors, lighthouses, and anywhere in between. These are some favorite spots, but if your family has a beach that means something to you, that is where we should be.
Corporation Beach, Chapin Memorial, Sea Street Beach. Calm bay-side water and wide tidal flats with warm evening light.
Lighthouse Beach, Harding's Beach. Some of the most recognized scenery on the Cape, with dramatic sky and open Atlantic views.
Nauset Beach, Rock Harbor. Bay and ocean access within a few miles of each other, with big skies and beautiful evening light.
Tidal flats stretching for miles at low tide. An otherworldly setting that photographs unlike anywhere else on the Cape.
Seagull Beach, Bass River Beach. Easy mid-Cape access with calm bay-side light and beautiful open water at sunset.
Red River Beach, Bank Street Beach. Classic Lower Cape character with quiet stretches of sand perfect for relaxed family sessions.
Coast Guard Beach, First Encounter Beach. National Seashore scenery with wide open Atlantic light and some of the Cape's most unspoiled shoreline.
Kalmus Beach, Veterans Park Beach. Convenient mid-Cape location with bay views and easy access for families staying in the area.
Sandy Neck Beach Park. A long, undeveloped barrier beach with dunes, salt marsh views, and uncrowded stretches ideal for relaxed family sessions.
Town Neck Beach, Scusset Beach. The gateway to the Cape with bay-side sunset light, boardwalk scenery, and a quieter feel than the busier summer towns.

No. Sessions are scheduled whenever works best for your family. Evening light is a popular choice, but morning sessions are calmer and less crowded, and midday on the bay-side tidal flats delivers bright, clean color with blue water and white sand. Families with young kids often do best in the morning. The location and direction are planned around the light at your session time, so every part of the day can produce a great gallery.

Yes. If your family has a specific spot in mind, that is where we should shoot. A favorite beach, a harbor, a lighthouse, the backyard of your summer rental, or anywhere else on the Cape that means something to you. Share the location in the booking form and the session will be planned around it.
Yes. Summer 2027 Cape Cod family sessions are now open for booking. July and August fill first, especially for families here for a single vacation week, so reaching out early is the best way to lock in your preferred date. Include your vacation dates in the booking form and the session will be scheduled around your trip.
For July and August, booking 4 to 6 weeks ahead is a smart window, and earlier is better if you are visiting for one specific week. September and October are easier to book on shorter notice. Reach out regardless of your timeline and we will do our best to make it work.
A $50 deposit reserves your date. It is refundable if you cancel 7 or more days before your session. Once you submit the booking form, you will receive session details by email, and replying to that email confirms your booking.
Summer, June through September, is the most popular season for Cape Cod family sessions. The weather is warm and the beaches are at their most scenic. Fall on the Cape is often overlooked, and late September and October offer softer light, fewer crowds, and a warmth in the landscape that is hard to find in peak summer.
Yes, and some of the best sessions involve young kids. Toddlers running toward the water, a three year old who refuses to look at the camera and then does. Those are the shots families end up loving most. Sessions stay relaxed and follow the kids' energy rather than forcing poses that are not working.
Both, always. Every Cape Cod family session includes classic posed portraits, the ones you will frame and send as holiday cards, alongside candid moments that capture how your family actually is together. The mix is what makes a gallery feel complete.
Coordinated but not matching is the goal. A shared palette of whites, soft neutrals, linens, and muted blues photographs beautifully against the Cape's natural tones. Avoid very busy patterns or bright neon, and plan on bare feet or shoes nobody minds getting sandy.
Yes. Extended family sessions on Cape Cod are a great way to mark a reunion, a milestone birthday, or a multigenerational summer on the Cape. Larger groups benefit from a little pre-planning around location and timing, so include your group size in the booking form.
Cape Cod is one of the best places on the East Coast for family photography. Bay-side and ocean-side beaches, miles of tidal flats, historic lighthouses, working harbors, and dune landscapes all sit within a short drive of each other. Families who return every summer often make a session part of the trip, and those photos become some of the most meaningful ones they own.
Your edited gallery is delivered through a private online link. Every photo is included at full resolution, ready to download, print, and share. The gallery stays live for two weeks after delivery, so download your favorites right away.
