Family Photography · Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Relaxed, candid beach sessions for families, couples, and individuals on Cape Cod. No stiff poses, no uncomfortable studios — just beautiful light, open water, and photos that feel like the place you love.
The Experience
A lot of people feel awkward in front of a camera. I get it — and it's my job to make sure that doesn't show in your photos. My approach is relaxed and low-key. We walk, we talk, I give light direction when it helps, and most of the best shots happen in between.
Cape Cod has some of the most beautiful light anywhere on the East Coast — especially in the hour before sunset. The beaches along the Lower Cape, the tidal flats in Brewster, the harbor views in Chatham — the location does a lot of the work. I just make sure we're in the right spot at the right time.
Whether it's a multigenerational family reunion, a couple celebrating an anniversary, or an individual who just wants great photos on the Cape — every session is handled personally, start to finish.

Questions
Golden hour — the hour before sunset — is by far the most beautiful time to shoot on Cape Cod. The light is warm, soft, and incredibly flattering. I strongly recommend evening sessions for all beach photography. Midday sun is harsh and creates unflattering shadows, so I generally avoid it unless your schedule requires it.
Relaxed, coordinated outfits work best — not matching, but in a similar color family. Neutral tones, whites, linens, and soft blues all photograph beautifully against the Cape's natural landscape. Avoid busy patterns or very bright neon colors. And comfortable shoes you don't mind getting sandy are always a good idea.
If conditions aren't suitable for a beach session — heavy rain, strong winds, or poor light — I'll reach out as early as possible to reschedule. Cape Cod weather can be unpredictable, especially in spring and fall, so I always try to have a backup date in mind. Overcast days can actually produce beautiful, even light for portraits, so light cloud cover isn't necessarily a reason to reschedule.
For summer sessions (June through August), I'd recommend booking as early as possible — golden hour slots fill quickly during peak season on the Cape. For spring and fall, a week or two in advance is usually plenty. That said, reach out regardless and I'll do my best to accommodate your timeline.
Absolutely. Some of the best photos come from sessions with young kids — the candid, unscripted moments are everything. I keep the pace relaxed and follow the kids' lead rather than forcing them into posed shots they don't want to do. Let me know ages and any helpful context in the booking form and I'll plan accordingly.
Absolutely — if you have a specific beach or spot on the Cape that's meaningful to your family, I'd love to shoot there. I'm familiar with locations throughout Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Chatham, and Orleans, but I'm happy to explore anywhere on the Cape that works for you.
