Proposal and engagement photography in Eastham and across Cape Cod. Discreet coverage, golden hour sessions, and a photographer who stays out of the way so the moment can just be.
Eastham Engagement & Proposal Photography
Eastham sits on the Outer Cape where the land narrows and the sky opens up on both sides. Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light Beach are among the most dramatic Atlantic shorelines in New England, while First Encounter Beach on the bay side offers calm water, wide tidal flats, and spectacular sunsets. The National Seashore backdrop gives Eastham sessions a wild, unspoiled quality that is unlike anywhere else on Cape Cod.
Shooting in Eastham
Eastham has a stretch of coastline and character that sets it apart. A few of the most popular spots for proposals and engagement sessions here:
One of the most dramatic proposal settings on the entire Cape. The wide open Atlantic, towering dunes, and the historic Coast Guard station in the background create a backdrop with real scale and character. The light here at golden hour comes in at a low angle off the water and is exceptional for photography.
The red-and-white Nauset Light stands above the bluff overlooking the Atlantic, making it one of the most recognizable and photographically compelling settings on the Outer Cape. The lighthouse as a backdrop gives engagement photos an iconic sense of place that is immediately and unmistakably Cape Cod.
The bay-side counterpart to Eastham's Atlantic beaches. Wide tidal flats at low tide, calm shallow water, and west-facing sunsets make First Encounter one of the best spots on the Cape for a golden hour session. Quieter and more intimate than the ocean beaches, with a completely different quality of light.

Coast Guard Beach, Nauset Light Beach, and First Encounter Beach are all exceptional options. Coast Guard Beach offers dramatic Atlantic scale, Nauset Light adds the iconic lighthouse backdrop, and First Encounter on the bay side delivers calm water and sweeping sunset views. Any of the three makes for a compelling session.
Is Nauset Light Beach a good place for a proposal in Eastham?
Yes. The Nauset Light lighthouse above the bluff is one of the most visually iconic backdrops on Cape Cod. For couples who want a sense of place that is immediately recognizable and distinctly Outer Cape, Nauset Light is hard to beat. The dramatic bluff and open Atlantic add real scale to both the proposal moment and the session after.
How much does an engagement photographer cost in Eastham?
Three packages are available. A surprise proposal session starts at $200 for candid coverage of the moment. A proposal plus posed session is $450 and includes 40 edited photos. A standalone engagement session is $300 for one hour and 40 edited photos.
How do you stay hidden during a surprise proposal in Eastham?
The location is scouted ahead of time and I position well back with a long lens. I scout the location ahead of time and shoot from a distance with a long lens. Eastham's wide open Atlantic beaches and bay-side tidal flats both provide natural distance to capture the moment clearly without being visible to your partner. Most partners never realize a photographer was present until they see the photos.
What is the best time of day for engagement photos in Eastham?
Golden hour at Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light comes in dramatically off the open Atlantic — the light is low, warm, and directional in the hour before sunset. First Encounter Beach on the bay side faces west and catches the full sunset over the water. Timing is coordinated based on your chosen location and the season.
How far in advance should I book?
For a planned engagement session, 2 to 4 weeks is ideal, though shorter timelines are accommodated when the schedule allows. For surprise proposals, reaching out as soon as a date is set gives the most flexibility for scouting and coordination.
What happens if the weather does not cooperate?
Weather is monitored closely leading up to every session. Overcast skies often produce soft, even light that is actually flattering for portraits. For genuinely unworkable conditions, the session is rescheduled at no extra cost.
Do you shoot engagement sessions outside of Eastham?
Yes, all of Cape Cod and beyond. Orleans, Chatham, Brewster, Harwich, Dennis, Yarmouth, Wellfleet, Truro, Provincetown, and any location that is meaningful to the couple. Any location that is meaningful to the couple is welcome.
Reach out with your timeline and location in mind. Last-minute requests are welcome when the schedule allows, proposals especially.
